Marknadsfundamentalism som skolämne

I veckan avslöjades det i ett TV-program att det på 80-talet var regeringens och kapitalets dolda agenda att göra svenskarna till ett folk av aktieklippare. Medan Myrdalarnas välfärdsstat var öppen social ingenjörskonst, så är “marknadsfundamentalism” just en dold manipulation. Den genomfördes när ideologierna enligt Fukuyama dog. Det blev så naturligt att äga aktier och vilken demokratisering: att sprida ägandet till alla! Sven Lindqvist skriver i “Framtidslandet” att aktieindexet 1994-1999 steg från 1.473 till sagolika 5.500 och att aktiernas värde realt har 20-faldigats på 20 år.

Titta i nya Svenska Dagbladet 18 november. Av förstadelens 32 sidor är 10 annonser. Sektion “Näringsliv” har 32 sidor. Sektion “Kultur” (som är bra) är på 52 sidor av vilka cirka 30 är annonser. Tidningens utomordentliga utrikesskribent Fredrik Braconier har blivit privatekonomisk reporter.

Nya tidningar inriktar sig enbart på den nya ekonomin. I “vanliga” radio- och TV-nyheterna prioriteras lanseringen av mobiltelefoner och enskilda företags börsplacering över rikspolitik, krig, och andra oväsentligheter. Sen kommer huvudnyheterna “Ekonomi Special/Magasin/Nytt” och vad de nu heter. Det är nästan värre än sporten (tack Tomas Polvall!).

“Utvecklingen” har nu hunnit till skolan. Barn och ungdomar har länge varit en konsument-målgrupp på marknaden. Men, just det, de kunde bli samhällskritiska i puberteten. Alltså ska 5000 skolungdomar på 135 skolor nu börja ta emot undervisning i aktiemarknaden och utbildas till aktieklippare. Utbildningspaketet heter “Kapitalisten” och dessa vår tids pionjärer uppger till TV att det är roligare än andra ämnen och att det inte kräver någon förberedelse.

Lindqvist påpekar att bara socialdemokratin kunde genomdriva en politik för återgång till klassamhälle, ökade klyftor och rå kapitalism. Så är det med alla ideologier som själva kommer till fatet. Självfallet är det också bara under en socialdemokratisk utbildningsminister man kan införa Kapitalisten som lärobok och lära barnen att relationen mellan arbete och inkomst är upphävt och att man inte behöver bidra med något till det gemensamma utan bara tänka på sin egen vinst. Det är vare sig bildning eller utbildning, det är av-bildning.

Fundera på vilka reaktioner det skulle kunna bli om man hade infört nya ämnen som kritisk samhällsteori, global jämlikhet, komparativa civilisationer, Buddhism, kunskap om Tredje Världen eller alternativ ekonomi med “Marxisten” som lärobok? Eller om man införde förhandling och andra ickevåldsliga metoder som ett alternativ till militärt försvar, krig, svenska KFOR-soldater och kärnvapen? Liberala DN:s ledarre(d)aktion och Per Ahlmark hade givetvis gått till angrepp på ny-stalinismen i vår skola!

Ju rikare vi blir ju mer patologiskt upptagna tycks vi, paradoxalt nog, bli av pengar och saker. Denna kulturella programmering tycks vara en förutsättning för att kapitalismen kan utvecklas, medan människor, hela samhällen och naturen någon annanstans avvecklas &endash; men det priset ingår inte i de annars så prismedvetna marknadsfundamentalisternas kalkyl.

Jag tror marknaden är nödvändig, men inte att den är tillräcklig. Materiella saker och pengar kan, inom vissa gränser, vara medel till ett gott liv. Patologiskt blir det emellertid om det inte finns något mer i människors strävan efter lycka än pengar, vinst och självbelöning utan gränser och när också livets icke-materiella sidor &endash; kärlek, omsorg, demokrati, konst, upplevelser, utbildning, social rättvisa, frihet &endash; reduceras till en fråga om vad betalar sig för mig på marknaden.

Under 80- och 90-talen har västvärlden och Sverige &endash; Framtidslandet – åkt i turbofart åt det hållet. Politik är inte längre att vilja, det är att administrera konsekvenserna av ekonomiska och finansiella beslut som träffats i banker, bolag, kreditinstitutioner, Världsbanken, Valutafonden, riksbanker och börser vars ledare aldrig har stått på någon röstsedel.

Lyckad indoktrinering är den som inte syns, känns eller diskuteras. Marknadskapitalismen ska bli en enda världsomspännande ekonomi. Men se upp! En-ekonomiska system och ett-parti system är till sin natur och i sina konsekvenser lika expansiva och auktoritära och lika oförenliga med frihet och välfärd för alla. De kan per definition aldrig vara sociala eller demokratiska.

Hur ska framtidens Sverige bli om vi nu utbildar ungdomar till att tro att Monopol är livet och inte ett spel?

Background Christian Harleman and Jan Oberg conducted a fact-finding mission to Burundi between November 26 and December 6, 2003. (See websites about the country here). The first TFF mission took place in March 1999. Unfortunately, since then it has not been practically possible to implement the co-operation with Burundi’s Ministry of Education and Burundian NGOs that was planned at the time. The 2003 mission had three purposes. First, to do fact-finding in general about the situation and, in particular, the progress under the Arusha Peace Process. Second, to explore the possibilities for co-operation between the government and relevant NGOs on the one hand and TFF on the other, in order to develop and deepen the existing competence in fields such as conflict-understanding, reconciliation and peace-building.
