(born 1945) is a Danish–Swedish political scientist and Professor Emerita of Political Science at Stockholm University, and Honorary/Adjunct Professor at Roskilde University. Her research focuses on gender and politics, including women’s political representation, electoral systems, and gender quota systems, as well as social movements and feminist theory.
Dahlerup earned her cand.scient.pol. from the University of Aarhus (1974) and has held academic appointments across Denmark, Sweden, the UK, and the Netherlands, including periods as a Visiting Scholar at Radcliffe College (Harvard University) and a Visiting Professor at Birkbeck (University of London) and Radboud University. Alongside her scholarship, she has served as an international advisor to organizations such as UN Women and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) on strategies to strengthen women’s representation in politics. She has received major recognition for her contributions to the field, including the ECPR Gender and Politics Research Award (2013) and the Erik Rasmussen Prize (2020)
